Explorer’s Aviary is a free-flight tropical bird habitat at Discovery Cove where guests can walk among, observe, and interact with hundreds of exotic birds in a lush, rainforest-style environment. It’s one of the resort’s signature wildlife experiences.
The Habitat
- The aviary is set up like a natural, tropical paradise full of plants, paths, and open sky so birds can fly freely around guests.
- You may enter through several access points — from a beach, near waterfalls, or via the Wind-Away River lazy river as it meanders through the aviary space.
- Three main aviary sections allow you to explore different environments and bird groups as you wander.
Bird Species & Encounters
- The aviary is home to hundreds of tropical birds, including vibrant parrots, toucans, macaws and many other colorful exotic species.
- Guests are often given food cups to hand-feed the birds, and many birds will land on your hand or shoulder to nibble fruit.
- Visitors can observe birds singing, flying overhead, and interacting naturally, offering an immersive wildlife experience that’s both educational and fun.
